for the Theatre

HandsUp-39.jpg

What is it?

As we know, sign language interpreting is a balance of art and science.  This holds especially true for theatrical interpreting where art takes center stage.  This hands-on workshop will unpack the process of theatre interpreting by exploring such topics as: theatre terminology, techniques and strategies for approaching the work, text analysis skills and navigating music.  Woven together, these elements create a performance that allows our audience to experience and participate in the story that unfolds on the stage.

Educational Objectives

1.  Describe theatrical terminology and norms.

2.  Identify techniques to enhance performance interpreting.

3.  Develop strategies for script/text analysis.
